How does the structure of the Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum related to the fucntion?

Structure:

?The smooth ER is an arrangement of tubules, vesicles, and sacs.

?The size and structure of the smooth ER varies between cells.

?The smooth ER can change within a cell檚 lifetime to allow the cell to adapt to changes in its function and requirements.

?There are no ribosome檚 attached to the membrane surface

?The smooth ER is connected to the nuclear envelope.

?The network of the smooth ER allows there to be enough surface area for the action or storage of key enzymes and the products of the enzymes.

Function;

?The smooth ER is known for it檚 Storage of calcium ions and muscle cells.

?Acts as a storage organelle.

?It is important in the creation and storage of steroids

?Also stores ions.

?The smooth ER packages protein for transport and releases calcium.

thats what i ahve for the structure and the function

but how do they related????How does the structure of the Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum related to the fucntion?
